THE WORLD OF CALDRITH
Others of Note
Not everyone who matters rides a great beast. Most of them do not.
* * *
Galmar
- Farran O’Brien (50s). A net-mender of SaltReach, and Liam’s father. He married out of the town for love rather than money, and has been paying for it ever since. An amateur inventor of things that nearly work.
- Neeva Corac (17–18). The Harbormaster’s daughter and Liam’s oldest friend. Flame-haired, sharp-featured, and sceptical of the word destiny.
Brevos
- Captain Griffiths (50s). Captain of the house guard at Ravensfall and mentor to Prince Tan Lenik. Somber, discreet, and wise enough to say nothing at the right moments. “It gets easier.”
- Captain Denys Lag (mid 40s). Rough commander of the Royal King’s Company of Brevos. A scar splits one eyebrow white. He cannot read his own maps.
Dravendor
- Atticus Melnon (late 40s). A smuggler of Dravendor, captain of the black-hulled Siren. Wild cherry-red hair, a crooked grin, and a pipe he gestures with. Trustworthy for the right price, which is the only kind of trustworthy Dravendor recognises.
Quenhal
- Mother Mora. Mother of Witches, Scourge of Caldrith, Dark Crone, Hag of Everlasting Night. Tiny, hunched, wrinkled past guessing, and fond of rose hip tea. Her creed: your only responsibility is to the truth, the truth of yourself and the truth of existence.
The Sora
- Guille Peyva (early 50s). Matriarch of a three-caravan Soran family, with a hand-axe at her belt and an opinion about everything. She spits on the ground at the mention of Evarra.
The Healers
- No Healer gives a name. They are known by their halls, by the colour of their robes, and by whether or not their lips have been sewn.
